This is a short study. The text in blue are questions to reflect on? The section GET REAL, are things to practice that could potentially draw you in connection with God? Connection is the goal no matter what you are studying. (or doing:)

Do you find that you are your authentic self?

Let's talk about King David. David had a lot of trauma in his life, but what kept him grounded (most of the time) is God. He opened up to God about everything. He didn't feel ashamed before God, or guilty. You can tell that he had confidence before God and knew that he was fully known by God, and fully loved. What you see in David's writings is an authentic spiritual maturing. Here are some verses that reflect the authentic emotion David shared with God.

"To you I call, O Lord my Rock; do not turn a deaf ear to me. For if you remain silent, I will be like those who have gone down into the pit." (Psalm 28:1)

What is the tone of this verse? What kind of emotions is David feeling? Can you relate?

Why does David call the Lord his Rock?

What is the pit?

Who are those that go down into the pit? What kinds of things draw you into a pit?

Why is David calling on God? What causes one to call on God?

Think about the word remain. What can you infer about David's current situation?

GET REAL: Spend time opening up to God. Try to let everything else go, but focusing on telling God everything you are feeling, experiencing, wondering, etc. You may not

spend a lot of time on this, that's fine, the important thing is to start the practice of

opening up. There are no right or wrongs.

Get Real, David

"Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God." How is David feeling in this Psalm? Have you ever felt this way
